A Father's Hope, A Son's Dream

Success Story

A Father's Hope, A Son's Dream

My name is Farooq, and I work as a labourer at a textile factory. I earn forty-five thousand rupees a month, which covers our rent and all household expenses. Like many fathers, my greatest wish has always been to provide a better future for my family.

Our story began on the night before Eid. While the neighbourhood celebrated the sighting of the moon, I was sitting in a hospital room beside my newborn son, Muhammad Raheem. Only a few days after his birth, he developed severe jaundice and remained in an incubator for twenty-two days. During that time, doctors diagnosed him with hemophilia. The joy of becoming a father instantly turned into fear and uncertainty.

From that day onward, our lives revolved around hospital visits. Sometimes Raheem's knees would swell, sometimes his body would be covered with bruises, and even the smallest cut could bleed for hours. On one occasion, the bleeding became so severe that he required stitches, plasma, and emergency treatment just to stabilize him.

While my wife stays home to care for Raheem, I continue working long hours at the factory. Even at work, my heart is always with my son. I keep my phone close at all times, fearing an emergency call. To make hospital visits easier, we even moved to a rented house closer to Lahore.

Despite everything, Raheem remains a cheerful and determined child. He enjoys school, loves to play, and dreams of one day becoming a police officer. His courage reminds us every day that hemophilia does not define who he is.

Meeting Umeed Welfare Foundation changed our lives. We received not only medical support but also hope, guidance, and the comforting feeling that we were no longer facing this journey alone.

For children like Raheem, a single factor injection can mean the difference between life and death. Dreams belong to children, but it is the responsibility of parents and compassionate supporters to help those dreams survive.

Mustafabad's Young Man Who Smiled Through Pain

Mustafabad's Young Man Who Smiled Through Pain

My name is Muhammad Anwar Irfan. I am thirty-five years old and belong to Mustafabad in Kasur District. At an age when life should have become easier, I continue to face a daily battle with pain and uncertainty.

My childhood was normal. I played, ran, and enjoyed life like every other child. But when I was thirteen years old, a small injury changed everything. What seemed like an ordinary bruise led to severe swelling and unbearable pain. After several medical tests, I was diagnosed with hemophilia.

The diagnosis changed my family's life forever. My father worked small jobs to support our household while my mother cared for us at home. Every step I took had to be cautious because even a minor injury could leave me bedridden for days.

School became increasingly difficult as repeated pain, swelling, and internal bleeding interrupted my education. Every month, two or three serious bleeding episodes forced me back to the hospital. Plasma and factor treatment brought temporary relief, but the disease remained a constant challenge.

Financial hardships became even greater during the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing me to stop my education. Determined not to give up, I learned tailoring and now work at a local ladies' boutique and factory to support my family.

Umeed Welfare Foundation became a source of hope for me. Beyond providing medical treatment, the doctors and staff offered encouragement, dignity, and emotional support that strengthened my resolve to keep moving forward.

My message to everyone is simple: never delay treatment and always protect your health. Hemophilia may not be visible to others, but courage is often invisible too. Every day, I choose courage over fear.

Hemophilia, Pain, and a Story of Resilience

Hemophilia, Pain, and a Story of Resilience

My name is Haider Ali, and I am from Lahore. My life has never been like that of other children. When I was only two or three years old, unusual bruises began appearing on my body. After several medical tests at Mayo Hospital, I was diagnosed with hemophilia.

The diagnosis was heartbreaking, but my family was already familiar with this disease. Some of my close relatives had also lived with hemophilia, and sadly, several had lost their lives because of it. My childhood was spent between hospitals, painful treatments, and constant precautions.

While other children played freely, I watched from a distance. They could fall, laugh, and continue playing, but for me, even a minor bump could cause internal bleeding and days of severe pain. Every movement had to be carefully planned.

My father, who worked as a rickshaw driver, never allowed financial hardship to stand in the way of my treatment. Despite his limited income, he travelled long distances to make sure I received medical care whenever it was needed. My mother remained beside me through every painful moment.

My friends Mian Usman and Saud became my greatest support. When I was unable to walk, they helped me. When pain overwhelmed me, they encouraged me. They taught me that illness may make life difficult, but courage and friendship make every burden lighter.

Today, treatment has improved significantly. Factor injections can control bleeding when they are available on time, but living with hemophilia still requires constant care and vigilance every day.

For the past fifteen years, I have worked as a ladies' suit cutter at a garments brand. I earn through my own hard work and stand on my own feet with pride. I am deeply grateful to my parents, my friends, and especially Umeed Welfare Foundation.

Hemophilia brought pain into my life, but it also taught me resilience. Pain did not defeat me. It taught me how to walk forward with strength, determination, and hope.
